The scores were recently published in James Suckling’s latest report about Chilean wines entitled: Chile in 2018 shows Limitless Quality.
In his sixth visit to Chile carried out in February, the renowned US critic tasted over 1,000 domestic wines. Amongst those, four wines of Gran Reserva Tarapacá´s portfolio stood out with excellent scores.
Gran Reserva Etiqueta Azul 2015 received 95 points and was lauded by the expert as having “aromas of hot stone, currant bush and hints of spices like cloves. Full body, firm and chewy with super-polished tannins. Linear and driven. A beautiful blend of mostly Cabernet Sauvignon with Petite Verdot, Syrah and Malbec”.
Meanwhile, Gran Reserva Tarapacá Etiqueta Negra 2016 received 94 points and was described as “really linear and tight with currant, subtle mint and hints of sandalwood. Medium body, firm and silky tannins and a bright and fresh finish. Shows a precise and vertical nature. Love”.
In turn, Gran Reserva Tarapacá Cabernet Sauvignon 2016 obtained 93 points, followed by Gran Reserva Organic Wine 2016, which scored 92 points.
The article published in the wine expert’s website: jamessuckling.com explains how scores from the latest harvests are quite high due to the consistent greatness of the viticultural country. He emphasizes that “there has never been a better moment to drink Chilean wine”.
